Pooh Shiesty is pushing for better jail conditions, claiming he’s unhappy with his current living situation.
The Memphis rapper has reportedly complained about spending 23 hours a day alone in his cell, with only two hours of visits from family and friends each month.
Prosecutors, however, are telling a different story. They claim the Back In Blood rapper has access to a tablet that allows him to make video calls and play video games to pass the time. Based on those claims, they are asking the judge to deny his request for improved living conditions.
Prosecutors have also raised safety concerns about Shiesty’s time at a halfway house, alleging that he tampered with monitoring equipment and caused disruptions. They also claims that two fans broke into the halfway house to get his autograph.
Additionally, prosecutors reminded the judge that Shiesty allegedly admitted to taking fentanyl during a court hearing. These allegations could complicate his efforts to secure better conditions as his legal situation continues to unfold.
However, Pooh Shiesty’s attorney has pushed back against the prosecutors’ claims, arguing that his client’s current circumstances are far more restrictive than they suggest.
“He is locked down 23 hours per day and has no contact with anyone other than staff,” Schaffer told Complex. “If by some stretch of the imagination it’s true, then they need to take a close look at their staff and their ability to run a jail.”
