Trapstar Games / Hood Warfare 2
A $5 Call of Duty-style FPS game where the Bloods and Crips fight over territory in Chicago? If you’re wondering whether this is a real game, yes, it is, and it’s currently gone viral on social media.
The game, which costs only the price of four chicken wings from the hood Chinese restaurant, is currently on Steam with very positive reviews and follows the original game, which peaked at 68 players when it first dropped.
Now, thanks to social media, Hood Warfare 2 from developer Trapstar Games is enjoying the success the first title missed out on.
The official synopsis for the game reads:
‘Rival gangs fight for control of Chicago. Pick a side, customize your weapons, and fight other players across a variety of action-packed game modes. Spin the block and take over the streets in this chaotic multiplayer FPS.
Hood Warfare 2 brings back the chaotic FPS gameplay and humor of the original, now built in Unreal Engine 5 with updated visuals, new weapon animations, and a new set of maps. Fight through downtown, the suburbs, The Trenches, and Chicago Mall. Hold down the streets or take the fight indoors, with different routes and positions to learn on each map.
Weapon customization gets an upgrade, too. Change out sights, magazines, grips, suppressors, and other attachments to get your gun how you want it. Set up your loadout with perks and equipment before heading into a match.’
Like the first game, the player count started out slow, but quickly ballooned as people like the folks from RDC World streamed it.
Social Media Believes Hood Warfare 2 Was Planted By The CIA
But it shouldn’t come as a surprise that a game based on such a problematic subject is sparking outrage, with a lot of critics calling out the fact that the game features Black gang members trying to kill each other in a game allegedly created by a white developer using AI.
Other complaints claim the game was somehow planted by the CIA and is nothing but a tool to keep Black folks down.
We’re not gonna hold you to it, but this game looks like a hot mess and isn’t worth $5. But it appears that’s not stopping people from playing it.
