The past summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day was by far the biggest box office blockbuster Marvel has released since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and though it fell short of the $3 billion mark that no film has ever crossed, Marvel has a plan to make that happen.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios is set to re-release Spider-Man: Brand New Day sometime later this year with additional footage following the success of their recently re-released Avengers Endgame: Encore, which raked in $86 million worldwide this past weekend. With Brand New Day sitting pretty at $2.495 billion, can a re-release with new footage, cameos and extended fight scenes generate enough ticket sales to cross the $3 billion mark? It’s possible.

Sources are buzzing that the movie directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland will have extra footage that includes, but is not limited to, Rosario Dawson’s character Claire Temple.
Temple is a nurse who gives medical aid to vigilantes, and has appeared in the first and second season of Marvel TV’s Daredevil (2015-2016), Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and spinoff The Defenders. In interviews, Dawson has mentioned she shot a scene for Brand New Day, but it was cut. We understand that there will be more surprises in the extra footage.
Keep in mind that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still in theaters doing numbers and with Avengers: Doomsday set for a December 18th premier, one can only wonder when Marvel would decide to re-release the new cut to the fourth Spider-Man MCU film as no date has yet been announced. Would they release it some time in November? Thanksgiving weekend maybe? We have no clue but best believe many of us will head to theaters to see Spidey and The Punisher take on the Hulk and Jean Grey in some extended fight scenes.
