Katie Zacharia’s struggle run as White House Press Secretary has hilariously ended after only five days.
News of Zacharia breaking Anthony Scaramucci’s record of serving only 10 days as press secretary dropped, followed by Donald Trump sharing what he told Zacharia: “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider. Katie, do you need this? I don’t think you need this,” hinting that he convinced her to step down after only five days on the job, and facing waves of deserved ridicule.
The New York Times shared a story within minutes of Trump’s comments, reporting that she was out, besting Scaramucci’s record, following a disastrous first day behind the podium and a godawful interview on Sean Hannity’s FOX News show where she couldn’t answer softball questions, including one about social media posts where she called herself an attorney, despite not passing the BAR exam.
Her quick dismissal only proves what many believed regarding her hiring: it was purely aesthetic. She had no qualifications that made her fit for the job beyond being an attractive, young, white, blonde woman Trump liked to look at.
How Did Katie Zacharia Get The Job In The First Place?
According to Mother Jones reporting, Zacharia, who is a Trump stan, made sure she put herself in front of cameras so Trump could see he so she could get the job.
Per Mother Jones:
In hopes of replacing Karoline Leavitt, [Zacharia] reportedly cross-referenced the president’s public schedule to book her TV spots, just to make sure that Trump would be watching. Clearly, it worked: On October 9, after weeks of these logistical gymnastics, Trump named Zacharia to the post.
Yeah, Trump keeps surrounding himself with the “best people.”
