It looks like Sean “Diddy” Combs release date just got pushed back after photos were released online showing the former Bad Boy captain with an illegal cellphone inside the prison.
At this point, Diddy might not want to leave.
If reports are to be believed he’s living his best incarcerated life including having a personal cook and daily massages inside FCI Fort Dix where he’s being housed. Because the “take that” rapper can’t seem to follow the rules, he’s already had his release date pushed back some eight times, according to Hot New Hip-Hop. His latest infraction makes this his ninth time that his release date has been altered.
According to TMZ, the best adlibber not named Pete Rock was supposed to be released on January 21, 2028, but after images of Diddy using the illegal cellphone were shared online his release date has been pushed back to March 2, 2028.
Apparently the Diddler was living lavishly and throwing money around to get the things he wanted. He didn’t just have a cellphone but he reportedly had his girlfriend sending photos to said phone and paying other prisoners to take care of his daily chores.
Diddy was reportedly sent to solitary confinement after prison officials shortly after the photos appeared to show the vibe curator sitting in prison issued garb using a cellphone. While it’s unclear whether the two events are related, it is clear that Diddy can’t seem to follow rules as infractions are what generally lead to longer prison sentences.
While Diddy’s release date continues to be pushed back, it’s also clear that the general impression of Diddy as a dancing executive who was “all up in the videos” may have also been wrong, as Diddy has refused to check into protective custody and has had a few altercations since being locked up.
Hot New Hip Hop notes that Diddy could have his release date altered in a positive direction should he accumulate months of good behavior.
Which, apparently, is the one thing standing between Diddy and the outside world: behaving himself.
That might be harder than it sounds. Diddy spent decades building an image around being the man who could make things happen, whether that meant getting a record made, a party thrown, or an artist signed. But prison has a very different set of rules, and apparently “I’ll pay somebody to handle that” doesn’t work quite as well when the somebody is another inmate and the something is violating prison regulations.
And if these reports are accurate, Diddy appears to be learning that the hard way.
At this point, March 2028 is the date. But considering Diddy’s apparent inability to simply sit down, follow the rules and leave the cellphone alone, maybe nobody should be circling it on the calendar just yet.
