Pete Hegseth is really trying to doom us all. During his “State of the Force” presentation, the highly unqualified Defense Secretary announced that Elon Musk will review future warfare.
What could possibly go wrong?
In what is a great example of white mediocrity, Elon Musk, who did a piss poor job of saving the country money with DOGE, is now getting another taxpayer-funded gig thanks to his buddy Pete Hegseth.
During the “State of the Force” presentation, which honestly looked like something out of Starship Troopers, Hegseth announced that Musk would join fellow billionaire Palmer Luckey, the CEO of Anduril Industries, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to lead a Pentagon review of future warfare called Project Meridian.
According to Hegseth, Project Meridian will bring Musk, Luckey, and Gingrich together to determine what the military needs to fight future threats from artificial intelligence or, as Donald Trump calls it, “super intelligence,” autonomous weapons, and other fast-evolving technologies.
Plenty of Conflicts of Interests
While this latest program from Hegseth is the latest effort from his Department of Defense to lean on the tech minds from the private sector, what is raising alarm bells is the fact that Musk and Luckey are involved, sparking conflict-of-interest concerns due to both men running companies that sell space, AI, communications, and drone systems to the U.S. government.
Per The San Antonio Express News:
Their companies, which separately hold Pentagon deals worth billions of dollars, could benefit from the panel’s recommendations, conceivably raising questions about conflicts of interest and worries about a strengthening military-industrial complex.
Hegseth cited “rapid advances in artificial intelligence, autonomy, directed energy, robotics, biotechnology, among other critical high-tech areas” in his memo ordering the review.
“Combined, these new domains, new ways of fighting, and technological developments will profoundly alter the character of warfare,” he wrote. “To maintain global dominance, the United States must anticipate future operational environments and act decisively to develop the tools to dominate in them.”
Social Media Is Very Worried About The Future Implications of Pete Hegseth’s Love For AI
As expected, the reaction to Phony Stark heading a defense project isn’t going over well on social media, especially on Musk’s platform X (formerly Twitter).
“Voting straight ticket Democrat not because I think the Democratic Party is great but because I feel a moral obligation to extirpate these people from power root and branch and encourage others, including Republicans, to do the same,” one post read.
Another post pushed on the gloom and doom that AI presents, adding, “Bro. I think we might all die real soon. Like, as in as a species.”
It’s as if Hegseth, Musk, or any of the other individuals enamored with AI haven’t seen one Terminator movie.
It doesn’t help that Orange Mussolini is head over heels about “super intelligence,” and in a recent interview with Time Magazine, that is completely bonkers, by the way. One anecdote revealed how Trump reacted to AI after using Musk’s AI chatbot GROK, and it possibly led to Trump approving the mission to seize Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Bruh.
