When Grand Theft Auto VI finally arrives on November 19, you may not have to wait too long for its online component.
GTA Online is on the horizon, according to Twitch CEO Dan Clancy. Speaking with Bloomberg about his platform’s plans for Rockstar Games’ earth-shaking release, Clancy revealed the possible release date for the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto’s online multiplayer.
In the conversation, Clancy touched on the massive viewership surge when the game launches, while adding that the real surge is even further out.
“You are going to see this big bump with GTA VI, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer,” Clancy told the website, essentially getting ahead of Rockstar Games, which has yet to speak publicly about GTA Online.
So, when exactly is “next year?” Well, GTA VI arrives on November 19, so GTA Online could launch in January or early February.
But we also know that with GTA Online and Red Dead Online, Rockstar Games wants to take its time because both online components had rough launches, even though both took months to drop after the release of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II.
Still, Rockstar Games is only pushing GTA VI, which is explicitly described as a “single-player experience,” so we will have to be patient for any news about GTA Online.
